Each day i have been doing small things in order to make myself a better person and feel better while on the dreaded post graduate job hunt. I am looking at it as an opportunity to learn more and fine tune what i have already learned. I feel like I'm writing more than i did in school all because it's something i want to do rather than something I HAD to do, and was often overthought on my part. I am doing the basics each day to exercise my body and mind: read, write, and some physical activity.
"if its humanly possible, you can do it.."
Marcus Aurelius
I start each day with a 3 mile walk with my mom. It gives me time to wake up and appreciate another day that I have with not only my mom, but my world. It gets the blood flowing in my veins along with the warm feeling of gratitude in my soul. I then write in my journal about the day ahead and what i should look for. It helps to have the Daily Stoic reader for this because it adds to the amount of thought and appreciation you have for each day. It also gives you tools for the mind to practice in difficult situations. After writing I go back outside to flow with my kettle bells. Its a great time to get my vitamin D and focus on how my body is feeling in the moment. I then go back to my computer, after showering of course, to free-write whatever is on my mind. I type anything and everything. There are no rules, only the art of free-flow writing. I like this practice as a warm up now before my blog writing. It helps my writers voice get in tune and gives me some confidence to publish my thoughts. This blog will be my job until I find one that actually pays me. haha.
The start of my day has many small goals. It provides me with freedom for the rest of my day. I can continue to do mini tasks like work on my backlog of books, look for jobs, or hang out with my partner. I was once asked by her mom "what do you do with your days?". It really hit me hard when she asked because the question echoed in my brain like a bell tower. I try to do as much as possible, but in small chunks to prepare myself for the future and also become a better person. A better person for me is one that is content with the things around them. The "live and let live" attitude. I make sure that I carry this attitude with me where ever I go and with whatever I do. So as a result, the small chunks that I encounter and the small chunks that I act upon will add to more experience point to my real life character.
The baby steps I take each day give me more and more confidence. I have already read 4 books, the most I have ever read, with this method. If you can do something, even a little of that something, then you can do some of anything.
